WhatsApp sticker maker
Turn your photos or cut-outs into a real WhatsApp sticker — 512×512, transparency kept, sized to WhatsApp's limits automatically. One photo makes a still sticker, several make an animated one. Add it on your phone (see below) and it shows up in WhatsApp everywhere, your computer included. Nothing is uploaded — it all happens in your browser.
How to use your sticker in WhatsApp
An animated sticker has to be added on your PHONE — that is WhatsApp's rule, not ours: the sticker maker built into WhatsApp on Windows and WhatsApp Web only accepts still pictures and drops the animation. So: download the file here, get it onto your phone (send it to yourself in WhatsApp as a Document, or by e-mail or cable), then add it with a sticker app — Sticker Maker on Android, Sticker Maker Studio on iPhone. Once the pack is on your phone it also appears in WhatsApp on your computer.
One thing to know before you start: WhatsApp wants a sticker PACK of at least three stickers, and a pack is either all animated or all still. So make three at once — for a weekly greeting that is no punishment. A sticker is the only WhatsApp format that keeps transparency in an animation: a 512×512 WebP file, at most 500 kB and 10 seconds. This tool fits your photos in, keeps the see-through parts see-through and tunes the quality automatically so the file stays under WhatsApp's limit.
Why a sticker instead of a GIF for WhatsApp?
WhatsApp turns every animated GIF into a small video, and a video cannot be see-through — a transparent GIF arrives there as one frozen picture on a black background. Stickers are a separate format that does keep transparency and animation. So: GIF for websites and documents, sticker for WhatsApp.
Can I not simply drag the sticker into WhatsApp on my computer?
You can drag it in, but WhatsApp then treats it as an ordinary photo: it opens in the photo editor and is sent flattened and still, on a white background. That is not your file being wrong — WhatsApp's sticker creator on Windows and Web is built for still pictures only and has no way to import a finished animated sticker. The phone is the only door for animated stickers. Creating the file works in Chrome, Edge and Android browsers; Safari on iPhone cannot write WebP, so make it on a computer or Android device.
