Silencing a moment, not the whole video
Most videos do not need their sound removed — they need three seconds of it removed. A phone rings in the middle of an otherwise perfect take. Someone says a surname, a street address or a licence plate out loud. A swear word slips out with children in the room. Muting the entire video to fix one moment throws away everything good around it; this tool takes a start time, an end time and a level, and touches only what sits between them. The dip fades in and out smoothly, so the edit sounds like a choice rather than a glitch.
Choosing between 25, 50 and 75 percent
Full mute is for censoring — when the words themselves must not survive. The partial levels are for balance rather than removal, and each has its natural job: 75% is a gentle tuck that most viewers never consciously notice, useful when a background noise is merely distracting; 50% is the classic duck, deep enough to push music or chatter clearly behind a voice; 25% leaves just a ghost of the sound, enough to feel that something is there without hearing what. What happens to the picture
Nothing, deliberately. The frames pass through exactly as they are — no cropping, no filter, no re-timing, no resolution change. The file itself is re-recorded to weave the edited audio back in, so you receive a fresh WebM or MP4 (whichever your browser records) rather than your original bytes, but what you see on screen is untouched. Rendering runs in real time, about as long as the clip. The free tier handles videos up to 1.5 minutes and 60 MB with a small watermark on the result; a day pass or unlock lifts all of that. How the volume dip is applied
The video's own audio plays through a volume control that ramps down just before your start time and back up just after your end time — a short smooth ramp (0.15s) avoids an audible click at each edge. Everything outside that range plays at normal volume, unchanged.
Can I dim instead of fully muting?
Yes — pick 25%, 50% or 75% volume instead of fully muting, for a background-dip effect rather than total silence.
Is my video uploaded anywhere?
No — the whole edit, the recording step included, runs on your own device. We never receive your video, so there is nothing for us to store, scan or delete.
