Click a line, circle, arc or shape near where it crosses something else — that piece is trimmed away. A shape’s own corners count as cutting points too, so you can take one side off a rectangle. Everything you draw works as a cutting edge; curves and text can cut, but cannot themselves be trimmed.

Edit
Cutting layersEvery shape sits on one of four layers. The names are fixed — they are written into the file so your cutting service can read them. The colours are not: there is no worldwide standard (most services cut red, Ponoko cuts blue), so pick the set yours asks for. CUT and SCORE are written as hairlines, because a thick line gets engraved instead of cut. INFO is for dimensions and notes and always stays out of DXF, DWG, SVG and EPS. Hiding a layer only clears your screen — a hidden layer is still exported.

A photo to trace over: it shows half-transparent under your drawing, centred on the origin. Draw over it with the normal tools — the underlay itself is never part of the export or the saved file.
Export
Middle mouse button turns the model, Shift + middle slides it, the wheel zooms. Space = select · L line · R rectangle · C circle · A arc · F freehand · X text · P push/pull · M move · T tape measure · O protractor · D dimension · G group (Shift+G ungroup) · Delete removes · Ctrl+Z / Ctrl+Y · 1-7 views · Esc cancels whatever you started. A right-click on the drawing opens a menu.

View
LookThe colour of the field you draw on, separate from the light/dark setting of the page. On a black field the lines are off-white, on a white field they are black — so nothing is ever invisible. Your choice is remembered.
Objects
EditClick a closed shape or a top face and drag up or down.
Draw half of the shape next to the vertical centre line of the work plane and let it spin around. A wheel, a pot, a knob — anything round is made this way in one go. Draw on a standing plane (front or side) if you want the axis to stand upright.
Turns a solid object into a box with walls, so it can be printed and holds something. A single thin wall can be removed afterwards: click it with the eraser.
CombineSelect exactly two solids. Cut away removes the second from the first — that is how you drill a hole or a slot.

How to use this tool
Drawing — 14 tools: line (polyline), curve, circle, rectangle, polygon, ellipse, text, trim, eraser, dimension, tape measure, protractor, fillet and select. Click on the sheet or type exact coordinates in the field window; the tool stays active, so the next one goes straight down.
Snapping — new points grab onto nodes, arc midpoints, the grid (0.01-10 mm) and multiples of 15°. Each can be switched off separately. The tape measure leaves markings that snap too.
Selecting — one click selects, a double-click unlocks dragging. A box drawn left to right catches only what lies fully inside; right to left everything it touches. Shift adds to the selection; the arrow keys nudge by the grid step.
Editing — cut, copy, paste, group, trim at any crossing, round corners to a set radius, erase, undo and redo. The right mouse button opens the same list.
Transforming — mirror, rotate by degrees or by dragging, resize in mm, inch or percent, place on an exact X/Y with a reference corner, offset, pattern in a grid or around a point, and join shapes into one vector.
Work sheet — set length × width and centre the selection in it, or inside another shape. The sheet is a guide and never reaches the export.
Cutting layers — CUT, SCORE, ENGRAVE and INFO, with a colour preset or your own colours. INFO (dimensions, notes) stays out of every cutting file; hiding a layer is screen-only.
Text — label (annotation), engraved single line (eight fonts) or outline (closed and cuttable, six fonts).
Check before export — finds open ends, gaps, segments that are too short and shapes drawn twice. Clean up removes copies and closes gaps in one step.
In and out — import DXF, SVG, EPS, AI or DWG, or trace a photo into geometry. Export to DXF, SVG, EPS, PDF, DWG or an image. Drawing is free; only the export is metered.
3D works like 2D — tools, snapping, selecting, undo, grouping and the right-click menu are the same. Only what 3D adds is listed below.
Work plane — point at a face of a solid and your sketch lands on it; point at nothing and it lands on the ground. There is no plane to choose first.
Volume — Push/Pull raises a sketch, or pushes it inwards to cut through; type a number while dragging for an exact depth. Or start from a box, cylinder, sphere, cone or ring. Revolve turns half a profile into a turned part; hollow gives a wall thickness with the open side of your choice.
Combine — join two solids, subtract one from the other (that is how you make a hole), or keep only their overlap.
View — middle mouse button orbits, Shift with middle pans, the wheel zooms, 1-7 are fixed views. Parallel projection for measuring by eye.
In and out (3D) — import DXF, SVG or EPS as a sketch, or STL, OBJ, STEP and IGES as a model. Export to STL, OBJ or GLB; the project file keeps your whole build.
Who it's for — and how it's priced
The CAD Studio is built for people who make or tweak drawings more than once in a blue moon — a few times a year up to a few times a month — and don't want to rent expensive desktop CAD for it. It's the same own-code editor as the free 2D CAD Drawpad, with the working tools that make regular use comfortable: snapping so lines actually meet, transform and resize by exact numbers, dimensions and a measure tool, corner fillets, join, real vector text (single-line engraving or cut-out outlines) and tracing a photo or scan into editable geometry. Everything runs in your browser — drawing, editing and most exports never leave your machine; the only server step is reading or writing DWG, a closed format. Using the studio is completely free. Only when you download your finished drawing is it metered: a CAD day pass or subscription makes downloads unlimited, otherwise each export costs a small number of credits, and new accounts start with a free batch.
How is this different from the free 2D CAD Drawpad?
The Drawpad is the basic, always-free version — draw a few shapes and download. The Studio adds the tools that make it comfortable for regular work: snapping, multi-select and transform, dimensions, measuring, fillets, join, vector text and image tracing. Both run entirely in your browser.
Do I have to pay?
Using the studio is free — draw, import, edit and preview as much as you like. Only downloading the finished file is metered: a CAD day pass, or a CAD or all-access subscription, makes downloads unlimited; otherwise each export costs a small number of credits, and new accounts start with a batch of free credits.
Which formats can I import and export?
Import DXF, SVG, EPS, AI or DWG. Export to DXF, SVG, EPS, PDF, DWG (when available) or a PNG/JPEG/WebP/BMP/TIFF image. Everything happens in your browser except the DWG step (LibreDWG on our server, in memory, never stored).
Is my drawing uploaded to your server?
No — drawing, editing and almost all exports run entirely in your browser. The only exceptions are DWG (reading an imported DWG or writing one on export) and tracing an image, which use a short server step; those files are processed in memory and deleted straight after.

Click two points to measure the distance between them. Dimensions go on the info layer: they show in PDF and image exports, but are left out of DXF/DWG/SVG/EPS cut files so a machine never cuts them.
Click two points to read the distance, angle and offsets between them. It snaps to existing corners. This is only a readout — nothing is added to the drawing.
Type a radius, then click a corner to round it — or select a shape and use 'Round all corners'. Rounded corners become separate lines and arcs, so they cut smoothly. Works on outer and inner corners.

Pick 2D for a flat drawing — parts to cut, engrave or plot. Pick 3D to build a solid: draw a shape and pull it up, or start from a block, cylinder or an imported model.
This choice sets up the whole drawing, so the side you did not pick stays out of your way. Need the other one? Start a new drawing — it opens in its own window, so you can keep both open side by side.

Select one shape to centre it in the sheet — or select two, and the last-clicked one is centred inside the first. The sheet itself is only a guide; it is never exported.
Join into one vector
Select two or more lines, arcs or polylines that meet end-to-end, then join them into a single polyline. If they close a loop, you get a closed vector.
Trace an image → geometry
Adjust the threshold until the shapes you want are solid black, then vectorize. It traces the outlines of the black areas and drops them into the drawing as editable lines.
