1. Who we are

Convertburda ("we") is operated by Quality Castings Bv, based in Belgium and hosted entirely within the European Union. For any question or request regarding this policy or your data, contact us at [email protected].

2. The files you convert

Browser-based tools. Most tools on this site (image tools, PDF merge/split/rotate, GIF tools, MP4 to MP3, OCR, the calculators, developer tools and more) run entirely in your own browser using JavaScript or WebAssembly. Your file is never uploaded — it does not reach our servers at all, and we could not see it even if we wanted to. Each tool page states this explicitly.

Server-based tools. A few conversions technically require our server (the e-invoicing and Office conversions, e-mail to PDF, PDF locking, archive conversion, and the heavier CAD and 3D conversions). For these, your file is processed only for the duration of your single request: it exists briefly in server memory or in a temporary folder that is automatically and unconditionally deleted the moment the conversion finishes — whether it succeeded or failed. Files are never stored, never inspected by a person, never used for any other purpose, and never logged. Each such tool page states this explicitly as well.

3. Usage limits and counters

To keep the free server-based tools available for everyone, we count how often each visitor uses them per day. This counter uses your IP address, kept only in server memory — it is never written to disk, never logged, and is discarded automatically (at the latest at the end of each day, or whenever the service restarts). We consider this minimal, short-lived processing to be in our legitimate interest (preventing abuse and overload, Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR); no profile of you is created.

Separately from that, we keep one plain number per tool per day: how many times that tool was used. This counter holds nothing about you — no IP address, no cookie, no identifier of any kind — so no individual visit can ever be traced back from it. It exists to show us which of our tools people genuinely need, and it is used for nothing else.

4. Cookies & consent

We use only what is strictly necessary to run the site, plus — after your consent — Google services for statistics and advertising:

Before you choose anything in the cookie banner, Google Consent Mode v2 keeps advertising and analytics storage denied. If you accept, Google Analytics 4 (visitor statistics) and Google AdSense (advertising) may set cookies. If you reject, they operate only in limited, cookieless mode. You can change your choice at any time via the "Cookies" link in the footer. Your choice itself is remembered in your browser's local storage, along with preferences such as light/dark mode — this never leaves your device.

Ads on this site are targeted contextually (based on the page you are viewing), not by building a cross-site profile of you.

5. Third-party services

Hosting: our server is located in the EU (Germany). Cloudflare sits in front of it for DNS, CDN, TLS and DDoS protection and technically processes connection data (such as your IP address) to deliver the site securely.

Google: Analytics and AdSense as described under cookies, governed by your consent choice.

Exchange-rate and crypto-price data: on the currency converter and crypto prices pages, your own browser fetches public price data directly from Frankfurter (ECB reference rates) and CoinGecko. Those requests go from your device to those services — we never see them. Their own privacy policies apply to those requests.

6. What we do NOT do

We do not sell or share personal data. We do not build advertising profiles. We do not store your files or their contents. We do not require an account to use the free tools. We do not place personal data in URLs or logs.

7. Retention

Converted files: not retained (see section 2). Usage counters: at most until the end of the calendar day (see section 3). Support e-mails you send us: retained as long as needed to help you, then deleted.

8. Optional accounts

You can create a free account, but you never need one for the free tools. An account itself stores only three things: your e-mail address, a salted hash of your password (we cannot read the password itself), and the date the account was created. That's all — no name, no address, no profile.

Your account also holds your purchased credits and unlocked tools, plus the payment reference from our payment provider (Mollie) — never your card or bank details, which only Mollie processes. Verification and password-reset e-mails are sent through Brevo (EU-based e-mail service). You can delete your account yourself at any time on your profile page; deletion is immediate and permanent, including credits and unlocks. Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR (performing the service you asked for). The one exception is an invoice: a paid order stays in our bookkeeping for seven years, as explained below.

If you sign up through a friend's referral link, we record which account referred you, solely to award the referral credits. This link between the two accounts is used for nothing else and is deleted when either account is deleted.

Invoices. Every purchase produces an invoice. For a private purchase that invoice carries only what we already had: your e-mail address and the country your payment came from. We never ask a private buyer for a name or an address. Only if you tick I am buying for a business do we also store the company name, the address and, if you provide one, the VAT number — those are what the law requires on an invoice. The legal basis here is not your consent but a legal obligation (Art. 6(1)(c) GDPR), and for the same reason an invoice is the one thing that remains when you delete your account: Belgian law requires bookkeeping to be kept for seven years. After that period it is deleted. A VAT number you enter is checked against VIES, the European Commission’s official service; nothing else about you is sent there.

9. Your rights (GDPR)

You have the right to access, rectify, erase, restrict or object to the processing of your personal data, the right to data portability, and the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority — in Belgium the Gegevensbeschermingsautoriteit (gegevensbeschermingsautoriteit.be). Because we deliberately store almost nothing, there is usually nothing to hand over or erase — but ask us anytime at [email protected] and we will respond within one month.

10. Children

The tools themselves are usable by everyone and collect no personal data from anyone, children included; only the optional account stores the few details described in the account section above. We additionally configure our advertising to exclude sensitive ad categories.

11. Changes

When tools or services change, this policy is updated and the date at the top is refreshed. Significant changes (such as a new category of data being processed) will be reflected here before they go live, including exactly which data they involve.

Attribution — free vs Pro

Convertburda stays free because a small, invisible line of provenance travels with the files our engine makes. On the free tier that means the mark CONVERTBURDA.COM in the file's own metadata, and on some outputs a light visible watermark. This is honestly how we keep the lights on: it pays for the servers and the people who build and maintain the tools. Please leave it in place — if you pass a free file on to someone else, the attribution goes with it. That small credit is our fee for the work, and it's the deal that keeps every tool free for everyone.

Go Pro and every visible watermark disappears — your files come out clean, everywhere. The only thing that remains is an invisible metadata line reading CONVERTBURDA.COM-PRO LICENSE, which the average person never notices. It isn't an advert; it simply records that the file was produced by our licensed engine, which is unavoidable since every file passes through it. As with everything above, the content of your file is never read, uploaded or stored — only this tiny label is written.
