About Convertburda

What we do

Convertburda brings dozens of everyday conversion, calculation and file tools together in one place — PDFs, images, audio and video, unit conversions, developer utilities, and more. Most tools run entirely in your browser; nothing is uploaded unless a tool's own description says otherwise.

Privacy first

Wherever a tool can run entirely on your device, it does. When a conversion genuinely needs a server (like Word or Excel to PDF), the file is processed in memory or a temporary folder and deleted immediately afterward — never stored, logged, or looked at. Who's behind it

Convertburda is operated by Quality Castings Bv, based in Belgium and hosted entirely within the European Union. The site is built and maintained by RASS (Red ALMA Software Solutions) for QCSS (Quality Castings Software Solutions).

How it is paid for

Convertburda is free to use and we would like it to stay that way. Advertising covers the running cost of the servers, and a small number of people pay for a day pass, credits or a subscription when they need the studios or the heavier server-side conversions. That is the whole model. We do not sell data — we have none to sell — and we do not put a tool behind a login purely to collect an email address. The everyday tools, from unit conversion to the developer utilities and the machining calculators, are free permanently and will not quietly move behind a paywall later.

What we deliberately do not do

Some things are missing on purpose, and it is usually a licence rather than a lack of effort. We do not ship an HEVC decoder, so HEIC photos open only on Apple devices where the system already has one. We do not write AAC audio or STEP geometry, because doing either properly means paying for technology we would then be redistributing. And we refuse one category outright: no people-search, no looking up an individual’s phone number or email address. Where a tool has a genuine limit, the page says so before you use it rather than after.

Ten languages, not machine-translated

Every page exists in English, Dutch, German, French, Spanish, Italian, Polish, Portuguese, Turkish and Arabic, each on its own address rather than translated on the fly — around twelve hundred pages in total. Arabic is laid out right-to-left properly, not mirrored as an afterthought. The translations are written for the language rather than converted word by word, because the terms people actually type into a search box differ from country to country, and a tool page is only useful if it uses the words its reader would use.

The five studios

Alongside the individual tools there are five larger workspaces — Audio, Video, Photo, Document and CAD — that bring a whole category together on one screen instead of sending you from tool to tool. They are free to use; exporting the finished file is what costs credits, or is included with a subscription. Desktop editions for Windows are in preparation, with macOS, Android and iOS to follow, and they will use the same account.

How we decide what to build

Most of what is here started as a request. Someone needed a DWG converted without buying a licence, a machinist wanted the numbers he looks up daily in one place, a photo needed its background removed without installing anything. When an idea arrives we check three things: whether it can be built without licensing someone else’s technology, whether it can run on your own device, and whether the result would genuinely be good enough to use. If the honest answer to the last one is no, we say so instead of shipping it — a tool that works badly is worse than no tool at all.
